The R&D Center at Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) in Korea has been working with GISS Technology since 2015. An example is the chain cover part. Figure (a) shows the reference porosity level of a conventional die cast chain cover without any technological assistance. HMC then applies jet cooling technology to achieve the current porosity level, as shown in Figure (b). With GISS Technology and no jet cooling, a similar or slightly better porosity level is achieved, as seen in Figure (c). This result demonstrates that reduced shrinkage porosity can be achieved with GISS Technology without the need for jet cooling, which helps lower production costs and extend die life.
